About Rae Tattenbaum
What People Say

"Tattenbaum then introduced me to her Program with a wonderful metaphor: ‘Think of the brain as a gymnasium. When you do my Program, you’re exercising the brain. The more you exercise, the more robust, resilient and flexible the brain will be. Of course, there are many ways to exercise the brain. I’m helping people exercise their brain through the six phases of my Inner Act Program,
Neurofeedback, and Coaching."

The Six Components of the Inner Act Program

The Inner Act Program is composed of six components which work synergistically to dramatically enhance performance in business, academics, athletics, and the performing arts. The Inner Act Program is available either by appointment on a weekly or regular basis, or as One-on-One Intensives, Group Workshops, and individual Consultation and Coaching for current and past clients.

The Relaxation Process

Relaxation is a critical factor in allowing you to bring your inner systems into balance. Inner Act will introduce you to a variety of techniques such as autogenics, progressive muscle relaxation and auto hypnosis so you can develop your own set of tools to achieve a more consistent state of relaxation. You will explore relaxed, paced, and coherent breathing, your heart rate variability will be monitored, and you will learn which tool puts you into a coherent state. What is so distinctive about the Inner Act system is that as you learn these skills, you are monitored by the latest Biofeedback and Neurofeedback technology. As this state is practiced you will learn how to shift your physical and emotional responses to the external world. With repetition, these responses will become natural and permanent.

Open Focus®

The Open Focus method is based on Dr. Les Fehmi's findings that attention is the key to how we manage our physiology and our inner talk. This attention training tool asks a series of questions, where you are guided to imagine the space between different points. You are also asked to sustain your attention on that space without drifting or obsessing and easily move to the next point. Inner Act offers the following Open Focus CDs for sale: Open Focus for Singers, Open Focus for Golfers, Open Focus for Dancers and Gymnasts. Neurofeedback Training

Neurofeedback is training in self-regulation. It teaches your brain to get back on track. Self-regulation is necessary for optimal brain function. Neurofeedback therapy enhances the function of the central nervous system and thereby improves mental performance, emotional control and physiological stability. Neurofeedback treatment can be helpful for those struggling with ADD or ADHD, learning disabilities, emotional balance, chronic pain, and many other issues.

In Neurofeedback we concern ourselves with variability of brainwave frequencies in the central nervous system and brain rather than with chemical imbalances or psychiatric conditions. Neurofeedback speaks the language of the brain, to the brain. The brain uses visual and auditory information offered by Inner Act's Neurofeedback software to re-organize itself and release old patterns of "stuckness". While clients use Neurofeedback for many reasons, they typically describe their concerns and fears dropping away, feeling more clear and present in their daily lives, and experiencing a greater ability for focus and awareness. Neurofeedback therapyMental Imagery

Mental imagery is the creation in your mind's eye of either an image or an internal movie of an achievement, an event, a state of being, or a skill. Athletes and performing artists use imagery to practice and craft an idealized performance. Teens taking SATs use imagery to immediately activate a cue for specific test segments and improve academic performance. Business executives use imagery to develop sales or accomplish goals.

Some of these images take only seconds to "cue up" a state and minutes to learn. Consistent use of imagery permits you to integrate the Inner Act Program into your life. Over a period of time, you are taught to instantaneously create an optimal functioning state.

Inner Journey Work

Inner Journey work restores and strengthens the Expert Self and replaces old, self-defeating thought patterns with new, positive ones. Within each of us, there is an Expert Self - that part of us that excels at a particular thing. The sense of our Expert Self is challenged daily by sensations of tension, responding to external events in a stressful way, and formation of ongoing critical self-talk. Through techniques such as guided imagery, journaling and mental journeys, Inner Journey work teaches you to 'shed' old internal statements and self pictures. It allows you to enter a quiet, reflective state, retrieve and restore the Expert Self and return it to its full expression and competency.

One-on-One Coaching

Personalized coaching is provided to help you remain consistent in your "presence" during performance and to track your pre-, during- and post-performance use of the tools.

Other Training Methods and Techniques We Utilize

  • The Interactive Metronome combines the concept of a musical metronome with a patented technology program that accurately measures, assesses and improves a person's rhythm and timing.
  • Heart Math┬« provides a set of tools for managing your emotions and performance. It is based on complex research on heart rate variability, the brain and the nervous system, yet very easy to understand and apply.
  • Balancing techniques for "mental toughness" and stress reduction
You will be introduced to and taught techniques such as autogenics, progressive muscle relaxation, and how to place yourself in a highly focused and relaxed state with the use of an auto cue.
  • Building Inner Resources
  • To make the study and execution of your area of expertise easier and more productive, it is essential to establish goals and time-to-practice strategies. Knowing how to use nutrition, exercise and mental strategy to prepare for performance is vital to success.
